Evidence Matters
Our next event occurs over 9 and 10 April 1970. Back in New York, the state's assembly votes to release all but one restriction on abortion. The result: New York becomes the first American State to legalize abortion. Other states across the U.S. will follow New York's lead.
On November 3rd 1970, Washington State citizens line up at
voting booths across the state. For the first time in American history, citizens within America vote to legalize abortion.
Also noteworthy, on December 23rd of this same year, the first world trade center celebrates completion with its "topping out" ceremony.
