Step 2: Acknowledge the existence of our spiritual enemy
Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. – 1 Peter 5:8
Our spiritual enemy is very real, and he's not alone. The effects of his team's actions are all around us. As the prince of this world (John 14:30), Satan has a great deal of authority, albeit inferior to Christ's.
Note the words from Ephesians 6:12 "…but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places." Rulers. Authorities. Mighty Powers. These are far superior to the cartoon images used to dissuade us from understanding the reality of the battle. Consider Jude 9, where "…even the archangel Michael, when he was disputing with the devil (Satan), and arguing about the body of Moses, did not dare bring an abusive condemnation against him, but [simply] said, "The Lord rebuke you!" (AMP)
I pale in comparison to the strength of Michael. Without Christ, I do not stand a chance. What about you?
The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist. - Charles Baudelaire
