Evidence Matters
The next significant event occurs in New York over April 9 & 10th, 1970, where the state's assembly votes to release all but one restriction on abortion. As a result of this vote, New York becomes the first American state to legalize abortion. Soon, other state governments within the U.S. follow New York's lead.
On November 3rd, 1970, Washington State citizens line up at voting booths across their state. For the first time in American history, a state’s citizens (not their representatives) vote abortion into law.
On December 23rd of this same year, the first world trade center celebrates its "topping out" ceremony, marking completion of its steel structure.
